How We Recycle and Recondition
Container Reconditioning
At Flatland Containers we recondition intermediate bulk containers better known as IBC’s or totes. The IBC’s go through a thorough process in which they are blasted with hot water or chemical depending on the IBC’s use, after which the labels are taken off. Once that is completed we make sure the IBC’s are dry ad leak tested so the customer can rest easily and confidently knowing that your bulk container is fully functional. Valves, lids, and caps are also replaced upon customer request and necessity.
Through the reconditioning process the carbon emissions produced by IBC’s can be saved by up to 67% per container and up to 36lbs of plastic waste. The reconditioning process not only helps the environment but also the customer as it is the most cost-efficient alternative to new packaging
Container Recycling
IBC Recycling
Our IBC recycling process follows and environment first approach in which every aspect of the tote that can be reused is sent off to the proper companies to be reused in different projects. Firstly the metal and plastic are separated. After which the plastic is chopped up and sent off to companies to be reused if possible. The metal is the broken apart, put inro a metal bin and then sent to EVRAZ to be reused.
Other Bulk Container Recycling
Any other products that pass through our facility follow the same approach as IBC’s. Firstly the waste is separated from the plastic and then cleaned. Once that is finish it is baled and then sent off to spreading facilities or facilities that reuse the plastic in future products.
